Hands-on palm Pixi

On Wednesday, Palm introduced its second WebOS Smartphone, Palm Pixi. Designed for Sprint for the holiday season, slender Pixi oriented slightly younger audience than the palm up and offers a fresh design and new features, but also makes some of the victims in these departments seem to reduce the cost of the device.

We were able to check out first hand Pixi this afternoon, and although not a final product, we were pleased that we have seen. If prices are right - we’re thinking of $ 100 or less - we can see a lot of young people and newcomers are flocking to smartphones this device. Learn more about Palm Pixi and our impressions of the smartphone in our hands, on a slide is shown below. Also, be sure to check back for our First Look video to see Pixi in action.

Call from Samsung M240 Sprint’s

Verizon was not the only carrier to announce Samsung phone on Tuesday. Sprint also announced the news that it had submitted Samsung M240 for the weekend. With a simple flip-phone design, and not even the camera, M240 focus on communication rather than multimedia.

Inside you will find a speaker-independent voice dialing, text messaging, speakerphone, 500-contact phone book, wireless Sprint backup service, record voice notes, as well as basic personal organizer options. M240 is $ 19.99 with the package.

On Call: Is Sprint on the way back?

Almost a year ago I wrote about the absence of Sprint’s identity in the world, the U.S. carrier. Although the other major operators have been used fashionable device, service, marketing slogans, and even develop a separate identity, Sprint was the struggle with incompatible networks, puzzling campaign Featuring Director Dan Hesse and the relatively mundane product range. At that time I thought that it was necessary to really differentiate Sprint from its rivals if it hopes to reverse decline in revenue and customer churn.

Twelve months later, Sprint continues to lose money and valuable Postpaid customers - nothing more than carriers make it much better - but I believe that Sprint makes a turn on the identity front. She fell, that Hesse’s advertising campaign and rolled out a new series of commercials aimed at Palm and fun factoids to the network of the carrier. Admittedly, the surrealist advertising upfront with the head to speak a little Creepy, but you remember them, and they are doing something to tell you about Pre.

Sprint has also taken steps on the device front. In September last year, when AT & T have enough titles to the iPhone 3G and T-Mobile recently announced the first Android phone in the world, Sprint was the capitalization of the Samsung Instinct and HTC Touch Diamond as the flagship products. Not that they were bad device, but they do not have enough star power of Apple and Google.

However, everything changes as Sprint lands devices, cell phones move forward development. In June, Sprint, finally got the above-mentioned preliminary, which offers a number of awesome new features, such as Palm WebOS. Of course, we do not like pre-full, but he brought us something new and unique, not merely rehashing and repackaging of any other phone Sprint. Sprint also scooped up RIM BlackBerry tour earlier this summer and just last week it announced its first Android device from HTC Hero. As noted by Taylor Wimberly on Android “Atlas”, the hero offers a number of improvements over MyTouch T-Mobile’s 3G.

So what does all this mean for Sprint? I say that this is a sign that Sprint is scratching its way back to its rich identity. The quality of its network and customer service are essential to enhance their brand, but firmly range of phones that include both pre-phones is just as important. Sprint is not fully regained its footing, but these phones “Start”.

D’Oh! Sprint pulls $ 99 Palm Pre promo after error

Earlier Tuesday, Sprint released a tempting business customers of competing carriers, offering $ 100 credit services for those who bought a Palm Preliminary and transferred my old Sprint number. It seems a lot, does not it? Well, it would be if it continued.

Sprint has since pulled the offer, stating that the promotion has been posted in error and issuing this statement:

Following further internal review of today, the proposal in Port-service credit of $ 100 for new customers who are buying Palm had previously been pulled because it was introduced into the system in error.

I’d hate to be the person who pressed the button “Forward, but Sprint said John Paczkowski at All Things Digital, that he will honor the service for those who have purchased the deal, but the proposal was to live. Clearly, this is not very well by Sprint, but it seems that the carrier is not making great strides in recent years. Do you agree or disagree?
