They were abandoned when the first Skype has updated its interface in the style of 4.0, citing the desire that the main function of the door, before piling on the extras. These are additional services that users, however, for clamored. This is a minor point upgrade also includes major new features, which was first introduced in the beta version of Skype 4.1, a screen-sharing.

screen initiates the exchange of video calls, using the technology of broadcasting the recording of your screen - either part or the entire screen - to another spectator. In addition to screen sharing, Skype 4.1 allows you to feed the search for contacts from other address books, including Gmail, AOL, MSN, Yahoo, Microsoft Outlook, as well as the schools of other players. If you have it installed, the web panel will focus on the toll-free numbers and contact names so you can make calls through Skype.

FCC pressed on iPhone Skype, tethering Apps

In advocacy group on Friday to appeal to the Federal Communications Commission to require wireless carriers to consumers access to Skype via smartphones, as well as an opportunity to connect their devices to the Internet through a tethering application on their mobile phones.

“The Free Press,” the letter, the Acting Chairman of FCC, Michael Copps, has expressed concern that wireless carriers do not comply with the FCC in the Internet Policy Statement.

Earlier this week, eBay Skype VoIP applications made available for download from the Apple Store at App.

But AT & T, Apple iPhone exclusive dealer in the United States, it seems, wants to block use of Skype on 3G networks, according to a report in USA Today.

In the USA Today report, Jim Cicconi, AT & T in public policy executive, said telecommunications carrier has the right to refuse to simplify their competitors’ services. He added, Skype is a competitor.

The report further notes an Apple representative, Jennifer Bowcock, these devices Maker of external internet phone applications for the iPhone and IPod to Wi-Fi.

In his letter to the FCC, “Free Press writes:

Within two years, we followed your guidance in terms of enhancing wireless services, seems to participate in activities which are contrary to the Commission’s Internet Policy Statement consumers, violate the rights to run applications that use services, or to attach devices of their choice on their broadband connections.

Recent reports on the application to lock up these issues again. Regardless of whether any specific incident will be found in violation of the law, the continuing uncertainty surrounding the rights of consumers on the Internet demonstrates the need for the Commission to clarify its rules. In order to eliminate any alleged ambiguities raised by participants at the beginning of the proceedings, the Commission should confirm that the Internet Policy Statement applies to wireless services that offer access to broadband Internet services, as recognized in previous trials, and statements about the meeting of the Commission. In addition, the Commission should seek further information on the extent of the role of wireless providers, and their rationale for such behavior is widely reported.

Free Press further notes the FCC should examine the practices of wireless carriers for possible violations of Internet policy, particularly as it relates to the possible direct or indirect restrictions on the consumer, the ability to run applications and services of their choice on their devices.

Skype for the iPhone: What’s the point?

You had a lot of questions about the new Skype for iPhone (download) - how it works and why someone wants to use it. I am going to answer some frequently asked of them here, but if you have more, you know what to do. Put ‘Em in the comments.

First, some context. Skype for iPhone is a voice-over-IP Communications application that allows you to communicate with other Skype members for free, plus a call landlines and mobile phones by purchasing Skype Out credit. It is in every country that the App Store can be found, and has already made a splash in the United States, Japan and Europe. Apple calls for Skype and other voice applications for the use of Wi-Fi for iPhone requires a place, rather than a hardware device. Now, without further ado …

1. If you’ve already got iPhone, which point to another appeal application?

At least at first, Skype was the main venue for international calls for free with other users of Skype, landline or at reduced prices on equal terms with a business card, for example. If you have family and friends living abroad, the application potential is not a brainer. Of course, you may not need to use Skype, if you all know and love lives within a radius of 500 miles from you. Nevertheless, users have chimed with the examples of domestic use, for example, if your home has a weak signal but a strong cellular Wi-Fi, or, if you eat after the free minutes, low rates of VoIP-service, as Skype will cost less than the carrier charge for each minute you go over your plan. In addition, one should not forget that the IPod Touch owners can use Skype and other VoIP applications (eg, Truphone and Fring) to make calls, even though that is not IPod phone hardware - you just need to be equipped with a microphone headset.

2. If you’re on the road, you still can not use your iPhone to make free calls to Skype, if you can not trace to the Wi-Fi connection somewhere.

If you are in the United States, AT & T iPhone allows users free access to AT & T “hot spots” without incurring additional costs, but if you try to call, you might not want to start it in the middle of Starbucks. Moreover, even if you have a laptop or desktop at hand, and can use VoIP on the desktop, and calls the client to a mobile phone gives you freedom to roam. You will not be able to see your friends with a web-camera from iPhone, though, and thus represents a compromise involved.

3. Li Skype for the iPhone using the native iPhone address book, or a property?

Skype hooks into your iPhone in your address book from the set of the screen, so you can easily call, not buddy using Skype Skype credit you have purchased. Contact screen displays a list of contacts, Skype, and it is here that you begin to chat or call Skype buddies that are not in the phone address book.

4. Will Skype for the iPhone to notify me of missed calls or messages, when I Run the other applications, or when the iPhone is inactive?

Yes and no. You will see a notification message or circles missed call on separate screens where you have the application runs, and again on the program icon, if you close the program unread chats. However, since Apple does not have more than one application works in conjunction with the iPhone 2.0 software, you will not receive a warning if you use another application, and someone is trying to communicate with you (you’ll be as offline to them, one way or another.) Even if you do see warning notice on the program icon after you’ce closed Skype, the number of missed calls you see will not be updated to reflect the current number until you log back into Skype.

5. You can receive calls to your SkypeIn number on the network when you are in Wi-Fi “hot spots?

Yes, if you have already bought a SkypeIn number, the service should work smoothly on the iPhone without additional activation steps.

6. You need a headset to make a call?

Regarding the iPhone, you can hold your phone to your ear as you would when using the phone, but also applications that are compatible with the headset and speakerphone. Note, however, that you’ll need a microphone-equipped headset using Skype with the IPod Touch.
