Nokia N97 is Mini, and the prices of netbooks

Nokia, the world’s largest cell phone manufacturer, on Wednesday announced new phones loaded with more musical opportunities and better integration with Facebook, as well as prices for its forthcoming laptop.

The company has announced new handsets and services on their Nokia World conference in Stuttgart, Germany.

Tops on the list of new phones N97 Mini, slightly less than the current version of the flagship smartphone N97 Nokia. This new, N97 has a smaller battery is shorter than the earlier devices, as well as less memory (8GB compared to 32GB) and a touch screen display. The device is expected to ship in October. Its list price of 450 euros, or about $ 639, not much less than the full-N97, which originally went on sale in the U.S. for $ 700.

The new business will also have a N97 Nokia, Comes With Music service is integrated. This service increases the cost of the device, but allows users a free download music service. And the device will be the first phone to Nokia, to have closer integration with the popular social networking site Facebook. Nokia has signed a deal with Facebook, so users can update their location and status directly to the website through your account Nokia Ovi.

Nokia plans to offer integration of Facebook to other phones as well.

Manufacturer tubes also announced two new music phones: X6 and X3. X6, which has a touch screen and 32 GB of internal memory, will be a new flagship music phones Nokia. The company plans to deliver a new phone in the fourth quarter of list price 450 euros, or $ 639. Like the N97, users also get Comes With Music service in the phone.

Nokia is the leading mobile phone manufacturer in the world with almost 40 percent market share worldwide. Recently, he is trying to diversify its business, offering mobile phone users to online services such as downloading music, games and maps. The company has established its Ovi service platform as a repository for all of these functions, and hopes that one day the Nokia, all clients will use their Ovi accounts to access and control your music, videos and photos.

But even if Nokia estimates that the global online market will reach 100 billion euros by 2010, the company must continue to feed its core business devices with the new phones. There is no doubt that Nokia is still the leader in the general market of cellular phones. She did particularly well to provide low-cost devices for developing countries, but it was challenged in keeping pace with innovation in the smartphone category.

Although Nokia is the number 1 worldwide manufacturer of smartphone, it loses market share of players such as Apple with the iPhone and Research In Motion and its BlackBerry. Nokia is particularly challenged in the U.S., where it is virtually absent and has key relationships of the carrier for its hot device.

Unfortunately, the new phones announced at Nokia world is unlikely to slow her slide in the high segment of the market. Although Marc devices to improve the overall product line Nokia, they are not revolutionary in relation to other products, that they will compete with the global market.

Nevertheless, Nokia is not going to surrender. Phone Maker announced last month relationship with Microsoft to develop versions of Microsoft Office software for the phone Nokia. And last week, he also announced its smartphone N900, its first Linux based phone, which should compete directly with the iPhone and the flow of Google Android phones due to hit the market later this year and early next year.

In another attempt to diversify, Nokia also plans to offer more sophisticated hardware in the form of a mini-laptop or computer - last week he announced a new device called the Nokia booklet 3G (watch here). At the event in Germany on Wednesday announced that it will be delivered mini laptop in the fourth quarter with a tag list price of 575 euros, or about $ 817.

What makes Nokia, Netbook differs from others in the category is that the device will have built-in GPS to provide access to Ovi Nokia, map software and services.

There is no shortage complaints - some minor, some not so small - about the shipping firmware of N97s, which is already in this area (our wobbly lights immediately comes to mind), but fortunately, it seems that Nokia is looking to address the issues, perhaps more active than it ever did. Nokia Conversations official twitter account has announced that the first option in the N97 (which we will take in mind the North American version, because the United States, he was the first) will be blessed with the firmware 1.1 with effect from 1 July, which hopefully will be available through the most air, without any software updates Nokia stupidity. No word on what will be changed in the new version, but honestly, if we simply get LL Cool J startup screen that will be good enough for us.

N97 disassembled on video … kind of

You are dying to see the Nokia N97 last year, broke to shreds in glorious moving pictures? Well, that’s in trouble: We do not have that. What should we do, however, is a series of photographs said shred-break, turned into a video. A creepy, silent film, if you will, along with subtitles. Lack of movement and sound to the side, it gives us a great deal of attention on the inside of the phone, if this is what you are. Of course, this is not the Goldrush, but if you want to see the N97 radio, there’s always that Royksopp video, right? Full video after the break.
