Symbian to facilitate App capacity to China Mobile

Symbian Foundation and China Mobile have joined forces to promote the development of Symbian-software for the App Store Chinese operator.

Partners will also promote the assimilation of TD-SCDMA, 3G standard developed in China as an alternative to WCDMA and other wireless technology interface. A cooperation agreement was announced by the environment.

“Symbian platform in a strong position in the mobile market in China, and we welcome the opportunity to build our relationships with Symbian Foundation”, Liu Xiang Dong, Vice President of China Mobile, said in a statement.

China Mobile, which is the largest carrier in China about 497 million subscribers, launched its market mobile App Store in July. Union with the Symbian Foundation, the industry organization for Symbian open-source mobile operating system, aimed at increasing the number of Symbian developers contribute to the App Store and a broad spectrum of software in it.

The first part of the program will be the basis for the rationalization of its Symbian Signed process of accreditation for mobile applications, Symbian Foundation founder and director said David Wood.

“Symbian Signed, will be simplified to make it easier for developers by clarifying exactly what the tests will include,” Wood said. “Some tests have been somewhat subjective, in that (same) Service can be represented and to transmit or not, which was frustrating for developers. We are moving from the style of questions to address the basic functions.

Symbian Signed process will be added in the process of China Mobile for the mobile market, and this means that developers can test their software, signed and approved in a reception.

The signing process will also be more closely linked with the Horizon Symbian, which helps developers create applications for the mobile operating system and allows them to submit software for App store.

In addition, the Fund plans to launch Chinese language Symbian site, reflecting its users. In August, 60 percent of developers filing, accredited to the Symbian were Chinese, according to Wood.

Western operators are increasingly cooperating with Chinese companies. Telefonica, international telecommunications company for O2 in the UK, announced on Monday a $ 1 billion share swap with the number 2 in the Chinese carrier, China Unicom.
