Sprint CEO: Expect Palm Pre-deficit

Apple iPhone in hand, it is very safe to say that there are not too many advertisements, and wait for the upcoming smartphone as a Palm. In the tech community is all abuzz on Tuesday, when Sprint and Palm finally announced pricing and release date, but would have to be rough waters ahead?

Speaking at a conference of investors on Tuesday, Sprint Dan Hesse, director warned of the likelihood of shortages Pre:

“We do not intend to advertise, much sooner, because we believe we will have a deficit for some time. We can not keep up with demand for the device at the beginning of time.”

There are not any specific number of how many units will be available, but some sites are as Precentral.net assessment that it could be about 375,000, which will be distributed throughout the country, Sprint, Best Buy, Radio Shack and Walmart stores. Now, I am not the best with numbers, but even I can say that not too many phones to spread around.

What’s worse? Sprint and Palm can do it on purpose. In the report, Bloomberg, some analysts say the company may limit the supply of pre-made to look more attractive to potential customers. There is currently no confirmation of this, but if this is true, I agree with colleagues blogger Don Reisinger, saying that this is simply not true. This is such a key moment for Sprint and Palm, that 1) you think they would sell more phones, as far as possible, and 2) you do not want to piss of your customers.

We will see how all this plays when the phone goes on sale on June 6, but let us hope that there are many pre-love for everyone. Out of curiosity, who plan on lining up early to get the Palm to the pre-opening day?
