Palm opening WebOS SDK to developers

Palm is ready to give peace to get their hands on the Software Development Kit for WebOS, its next-generation mobile operating system.

At Web 2.0 Expo on Wednesday, Palm in Michael Abbott announced that the company is ready to start the game developers with its MOJO SDK, is still limited in the choice of several dozen guests.

He also demonstrated how developers can use in the flood of messages at the bottom of the palm of your hand through the Palm had a pre-notification service, and provided links to the Palm in the past with the announcement that the emulator WebOS allows users to manage their applications, old Palm.

Abbott went to developers through MOJO Messaging Service, which is a push notification service, which developers can use to send status updates, such as the receipt of new instant messages, said in Palm Paul Cousineau, director of product management for the WebOS.

If this sounds like the technology Apple has shown just leave it on the iPhone 3.0 event, it is, but with a slightly different implementation: Apple notification service will display a text message pop-up window type in any application is running, while MOJO WebOS use notification bar that is not interfere with the application.

Palm clearly hopes to attract cargo from developers WebOS for use in mobile applications that madness sweeping the mobile phone industry, and will make their move for the group, which is very familiar with HTML, CSS, Javascript and technologies that are used to build a WebOS applications, Cousineau said.

Registration page went live on the Palm web site on Wednesday. There will not be free to download SDK, and developers will not have to join any association of developers of Palm, Cousineau said.

And, despite repeated attempts, Cousineau refused to share price or release date for Palm Pre.
