Nokia music service to Australia, Singapore

Nokia, the leading mobile phone, plans to turn its unlimited music service in Australia and Singapore at the end of the quarter and eyeing further expansion in Europe and the United States.

Tero Ojanpera, district heads and entertainment Nokia, told MidemNet annual collection of digital music in Cannes, France, that the deployment will continue to follow a very good experience working in the UK.

“The next two countries, which we will implement over the next 10 weeks will be in Asia, Australia and Singapore,” he told conference. “We will be launching in the first quarter of 2009, in February and March.”

Like every organization is trying to sell music, Nokia must ensure the rights agreements with the recorded music side of business and publishing side. Ojanpera said the recent Group secured a breakthrough at the European publishing.

“In 2009 we also look to the United States and in Latin America,” he said. “It’s a plan.”

Nokia, “comes with music” service offers unlimited music from the four major music labels and many independent. Music can be a year after the contract expired.

Individual tracks can be downloaded to your phone and computer, and free, while the value of music is reflected in the price of the phone itself.

Carphone Warehouse, the sole retailer of Nokia services in the UK, has recently reduced the price for one of the phones, and analysts speculated that the phone before takeoff.

Ojanpera declined to say how the phone was sold in Britain, but said the service will gain strength as it increases the number of phones on which it is available.

He said that the company is considering providing some content in exchange for advertising, such as video and news from the music to accompany the sale of music magazines.

“2009 will be a very large investment for their part,” he said.
