Gmail in the iPhone, Android labels come with a catch

It is no secret that Google’s mobile team has been gradually rolling in particular, with its web-mail on the desktop to the mobile version of its e-mail on the site. A few weeks ago, visitors to Gmail.com to iPhone or G1 Android began seeing an opportunity to “turn off” the conversation thread, which blocks further communication in the chain of crowding your inbox. Now, another feature of secondary joined MUTING. On Monday, Google pushed the mobile communication labeling.

As in the case of disconnection, the possibility of e-mail to the color of the label as the “party” or “routes” can take on new meaning in a limited space of the cell phone screen, even one as relatively large, as in the iPhone.

Nevertheless, it is much more restricted on the phone than it is on your desktop. After selecting a message, you can go to the “Advanced” and select the tag with the same category, but you will not be able to create, rename and delete tags from your phone. As in the case of functions that preceded it, you only faced with the restricted version of the label management of Gmail.com, but not with Android or iPhone native in boxes. This caveat is introducing a requirement that would cause a lot more phones to follow “in the other boxes to read Gmail. (You can get around this by creating a bookmark icon on the home screen.)

If you rely heavily on labels to organize your correspondence, you will be able to carry more than that the functionality of your iPhone or G1. Otherwise, the current inability to add shortcuts to the phone, you can not do much, if not the first to create a category on your desktop.

Labels on the Android operating system and iPhone 2.2.1 or higher, and support for the U.S. English only.
