New LP ITunes format live

I follow Apple’s “It’s Only Rock And Roll” event in conjunction with the staff of CNET, but even before the event started, I saw that Apple revealed their new LP format to ITunes.

It is called ITunes LP, and you can open by pressing the top item “Further study” field on the left side ITunes Store home page. The new format includes more album art, lyrics, writing about video recording (for example, interviews with band members) and, possibly, additional songs.

There are only a handful of albums are available in the format right now (see screenshot of the six that are advertised on ITunes LP page), but I’m sure that more are coming.

So far I have not been able to download ITunes 9 software, but it is available in earlier versions.

Update Skyfire browser for WinMo, Nokia phones

The main competitor for Opera Mobile browser in the mobile phone space, Skyfire has released a new version for Windows Mobile (touchscreen | without touch screen) and Nokia, Symbian-E or N series phones launch. Version 1.1 provides some minor, but still Welcome, improved navigation and performance.

My favorite that you can now Punch “2″ and “8″ key on your keyboard or keyboard equipped with telephones to move up and down. When you click the asterisk (*) will jump you to share the address / Search Bar. Of course, this can not work the same on the phones with non-standard keyboard arrangements.

Web surfers will also notice that Skyfire can now show the mobile version of the Web site more frequently than before. For a change of the new features WAP, that detect mobile sites better. In addition, the Skyfire browser will increase on the page automatically, saving you a step. The new regime will not work on sites like mobile.yahoo.com Yahoo, that use of “mobile” as part of the URL is intended for viewing on your desktop.

Behind the scenes, mobile browser Skyfire also received an update for Flash, QuickTime and Silverlight, which enable all the browser edge in streaming video. Other settings and patches designed to speed up the time spent on the download page and scroll speed on the phones Nokia. Blog Skyfire is a full list of changes.

Mobile Skyfire browser is available free to all users. You can also download it on the air, pointing to various mobile browser for http://get.skyfire.com. If you are already a member, which can weather a short wait, Skyfire will push updates to your phone. This should save you having to reconfigure all the RSS and social networking channels.

Google Maps for mobile devices indicate when to take side streets

We found that Google knows very little about you, and sometimes that is good. Especially when Google plows some of that information back to the new opportunities.

Yesterday my colleague Tom Krazit explore new functions, which is part of the traffic reports on Google Maps, including how Google treats the issue of privacy characteristic of information because it reflects the user, providing some of its more granular traffic reporting. In addition to displaying traffic information on major highways, Google will display it on the highways, class of travel, which represents the next level down in terms of motor activity. (This may include more high-speed road traffic facades, for example.)

Club work suck anonymous data from people using the feature “My Location” on Google Maps for mobile. Google sends itself (and the court function was sending itself) anonymous information behind the scenes, when you turn on the feature “My Location” on your mobile phone. Part of this data is returned to the headquarters of Google includes your location and velocity.

While the enhanced map movement, which emerged from the data driver provides another level of service, Google is not the first to make mobile data in local traffic. Israel launched called Waze more hyperlocal ambitions. Waze also reports, highways and streets, and some even less than the arterial streets. In fact, you can use Waze drivers mobile phone data in conjunction with the motion of the car to create a fairly accurate map of the city. In addition, you can actively report accidents and other incidents. Before leaving, Waze can create a real-time route, which is more active than Google Maps traffic.

Although Waze has bright ideas, it has no weight. As online social networks, they must build its user base to build its database. Google, on the other hand, has a strong influence in the real world of users who already have a user account names and passwords. It also established roads and highways. If Google is smart, she not only turn their gaze to an even smaller alleys, as well as take many interactive features, such companies as Waze develops.

Google Maps for Mobile can be downloaded free of charge. On some phones, you can install it with greater Suite Google Mobile App. Visit m.google.com from your mobile browser to download Google Maps for your phone.

Meraki: Internet via handheld devices soars

Meraki, a well-known mesh network provider, on Tuesday released its first wireless census for North America, and the results, despite the drama, it seems nothing is a surprise. Basically, there has been a sharp increase in the number of wireless devices capable of, including Apple in portable devices has been the biggest leap.

In Meraki Wireless census surveyed 10,000 randomly selected Meraki access points deployed in North America during the two 24-hour periods: June 2nd, 2008 and 1 June, 2009. The study measured the number of different devices, the client that sent the sample queries for each 24-hour period. The purpose of the survey was to determine the macro-motion and end-user device trends.

In detail, the number of mobile devices, including laptops and handheld devices, has grown from about 149,000 in 2008 to more than 211,000 in 2009, a 41 percent increase.

Apple devices have played a huge role in this increase. In the company’s mobile devices now account for 32 percent of all devices provided in the survey, in 2009, compared with only 14 per cent in 2008. The survey also showed that the popularity of laptops Apple, iPhones and iPods impressive 221 percent increase in just one year.

In addition to the products Apple, there were an increasing number of Wi-Fi-enabled portable devices from other well-known manufacturers. According to Meraki in the census, the number of Research In Motion (RIM) devices, most famous for smartphones BlackBerry, is observed in North America grew by 419 percent from 2008 to 2009, while Nokia devices grew by 114 percent.

In 2008, RIM devices, only two percent of all funds, said, but increased sharply to 8 percent in 2009. In 2008 and 2009, Nokia was one percent and two percent of all devices, respectively.

These changes in the types and numbers of wireless devices to be expected. In the past few years, more and more high internet capable devices have been introduced and more web services, specifically designed for mobile users.

Personally, while I wish the survey had been done more than 24-hour period, the trend seems right and, of course, represent the way I access the Internet. In addition to sitting at work on my writing on the desktop, when on the go, I almost exclusive way to access the Internet via my iPhone.

How about you? How often do you access the Internet via a mobile phone? Please share your thoughts in the comments section.

China Unicom accumulation 5M iPhones for launch?

China in the formal introduction of the iPhone, finally, as all but locked at the end of this year, but put the size of the market in perspective, check this stat: according to “local media” in China’s UMTS / HSPA network operator China Unicom, as they say, placed an order for boys and girls in Cupertino over 5 million units at launch in exchange for 10 billion yuan, which is simply to avoid $ 1.46 billion. For comparison, AT & T has sold about half that number in its last reported quarter, so that if the 5 million figure is correct, Unicom is definitely coming to the area to play ball. Rumors have the first batch of domestic iPhones in September, declining; carrier apparently quite aroused, and it is understandable - they still say they can get within reach of China Mobile, the world’s largest carrier on the subscriber’s account. Strangely, while Unicom representative said that an agreement with Apple to actually sell these is not complete, so if they are going to the final document, to obtain cash from point A to point B, pump millions of localized telephone numbers, and get ‘Em on the shelves in time for the autumn, time is certainly of great importance.
