Boost customers are the text message delay
Customers using prepaid wireless services, which are owned by Sprint Nextel, said that they had experienced delays in receiving text messages. This problem was first told the Associated Press. The impetus representative admitted that beginning in March, some clients have experienced delays in the text, which lasted from several minutes to several hours.
“We have diagnosed and isolated problem,” said John Votava, to increase the secretary. “We worked day and night from late March to fix the problem. Our technical team has been upgrading the network, and they have told us that the work will be completed by May 7.”
Boost started offering its unlimited monthly service on January 22. At $ 50 a service that requires no contract, and costs just $ 50 for unlimited voice, SMS and MMS messaging, as well as on the Internet, has proved very successful, the company said. Exactly how successful, will not be known until Monday, when Increase parent company Sprint Nextel reports first quarter 2009 results. But analysts expect the subsidiary to report that he had received some 500,000 new subscribers in the first quarter. At the end of the fourth quarter of 2008, the increase was 3.6 million subscribers.
“To be honest, we were overwhelmed by the number of people signing up for unlimited service”, Votava said. “People really take advantage of unlimited texting, as they should, and this gives us some growing pains.”
Votava said the delay occurred most often during peak hours which are from 2 pm to 10 pm.
Boost uses the Nextel part of Sprint network for its services. Nextel uses a technology of identity, which differs from the Sprint PC network that uses CDMA. For many years, Nextel users periodically complained about the delays with text messages, the AP reported. But said that Votava Boost, which is used in the Nextel network for its service since it began in 2002, does not have any problems during the past seven years, with delayed text messages. He said the problems began only after going $ 50 offer go across the country.
AP reported that some customers upset and disappointed with the service, but many say that they will not drop the service because it is so affordable.
At $ 50 a month, the service is indeed a bargain. But will have to increase to fix this problem, if it expects to compete with other low-cost services, such as MetroPCS Communications and Leap Radio International. These regional operators have long been offering unlimited calling for about $ 50 a month in some areas. And now they are expanding their services in major cities in the northeast. Boost is also facing competition from Virgin Mobile, which should increase with its $ 50 All-You-Can-plan is prepaid. T-Mobile USA is also offering similar services to their existing customers in order to retain customers.
