Apple, AT & T, Samsung, Verizon and other action for the Shazam app

Earlier this week, a company called Tune Hunter Shazam to find the accused music service, as well as a range of consumer electronics, mobile operators and digital music retailers for a patent on counterfeit identification system for music.

Shazam named along with Samsung, Apple, Amazon.com, Napster, Motorola, Gracenote, Verizon Wireless, LG Electronics, AT & T Mobility and Pantech Wireless in a lawsuit filed Tuesday over the United States patent number 6941275, which was published in Remi Swierczek / Tune Hunter in September 2005. The lawsuit accuses the Shazam music discovery and identification of service in violation of patent and other companies for the benefit directly from Shazam alleged violation. Tune Hunter requests unspecified damages and a ban from the U.S. District Court in East Texas division, which would prevent “further attacks on Tune Hunter patent.

Tune Hunting patent covers “a music identification / purchasing system, in particular, the method of marking time and name of the radio station, portable device, such as a key holder, watches, mobile phone, beeper, etc., that will allow users to learn through Online or by calling the name of the song, artist and / or music companies, the relevant data stored in the archive broadcasts.

Shazam is available in several different mobile devices. It is a popular iPhone applications sold through the Apple Store in the App to “listen” to the songs and sets them. Samsung is a partner at London-based Shazam mobile music store. Amazon.com, Napster and Gracenote are retail partners Shazam.

Shazam was founded in 2002 in London, said by the end of this year, his service will be available in 250 million devices.

Shazam, AT & T, Apple and Gracenote each stated that they did not comment on the lawsuit, as well as Samsung and Verizon have not yet heard about it.

Shazam is also available on many platforms, not named in the lawsuit, including Research In Motion of BlackBerry, Facebook, and the Android-based phones like T-Mobile in the G1.
