Analyst: iPhone 32 GB may debut in June

Apple, is expected to begin production of high-end iPhone to 32 GB of flash memory, as well as low-end 3G version this spring, according to a report released a study Tuesday at the Lazard Capital Markets analyst.

Production will begin in April and the ramp in May, but new phones may be announced in June, Daniel Amir, a Lazard Capital Markets analyst, said in his report.

He noted, however, that the low-end version may be available only in the fast-growing, emerging markets of Brazil, Russia, India and China, while the Elite version is expected to make its way to North America and Europe.

(Credit: Apple) low end version will work on the 3G network rather than Wi-Fi, while the elite version of assumed to double the capacity of 16GB and 32 GB of NAND flash memory and improve the function of the camera, Amir said in his report with reference to checking with the Apple iPhone to the channel partners.

Meanwhile, Amir predicts, iPhone unit of cargo on the first and second quarters could be higher than Wall Street is currently forecasting.

He expects iPhone shipments to reach approximately 3.8 million to 4 million in the first quarter, while Wall Street is predicting 3 million to 3.5 million units.

In the second quarter, the supply of iPhone may reach 7 million to 8 million units, and three times to four times more than last year’s second quarter figures, he says. New Apple iPhones, is expected to be about 3 million of these figures, Amir said. Wall Street, meanwhile, waits for Apple to supply 6.5 million to 7 million iPhones in the second quarter.

Apple was not immediately available for comment.

Reports of Apple flash memory to buy drinks surfaced in February, with one analyst with Think Equity Partners to note that Apple almost cleaned out a major supplier and defeat the other two more flash memory.

Amir CNET reported that the New York-February increase is due to increased production on iPhones, which shipped in March. In order to meet their needs on a 32 GB iPhone, Apple will hit its suppliers up towards the end of next month, he said.

Amir said in his research report:

About 20 percent of NAND capacity goes to Apple, and its impact on the NAND market should not be underestimated …

NAND prices should move up more orders from Apple. We believe that with the development of new iPhone, which could include a 32 GB NAND, Apple creates the ground for another outbreak of the potentially large order, starting from April. With the potential of 3 million units will be shipped to 2q, we believe that the magnitude of such an arrangement would allow the price of NAND components go up another 20 per cent (first half) of 2q.
